Ever feel like you don’t know where you’re headed? Like your life has no real direction? Like your growth is at a stand still?
In today's world, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, mundane tasks like household chores, running the kids here and there. And let's not forget that most of us spend a greater part of our days working at our day jobs.
We've all wondered, at one time or another, if there was more to life than this. It's not that we dislike our daily lives, but sometimes we feel like we've gotten lost in the shuffle. Like we can do, and be, more.
In today's post, I'd like to share with you 3 ideas to help you grow, and in the process, discover a little more about yourself.
1) Try something new
Something I like to have handy is my "list of 100", which I keep in my Goal Getter Workbook. It's a list which lists my goals for the year. It also includes things I've done in the past but want to do again, like read 52 books or go on a solo coffee date.
But my list also includes new things that I want to try. Things I've never done. And even things that scare me a little.
Some of the things I haven't done yet that you can find on my list - go flyboarding, finish writing my novella and drive the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
It's exciting to try something new! Start with doing a brain dump of all the things you ever thought you might like to do. Don't filter your list...just write! Keep this list close by and add to it as you think of new ideas.
Revisit your list often and make a point to regularly choose something from it and DO THE THING!
2) Take a class
I don't know about you, but I love learning something new. In today's world it's easy to hop online and find a course, in person or virtual, about something you want to know more about.
Whether it's a new hobby you want to try or you want to get better at something you already love, taking a class can definitely make you feel more empowered.
Think about what it is you would love to learn, or something you want to get better at. Then get online and do a search for it.
Here are a couple of ideas for you:
Want to finally write that book? Check out 40 Days to a Finished Book e-course.
Want to be a better photographer or try your hand at calligraphy? Check out the courses available at CreativeLive.
You can also try a membership site like the Life Editor Clubhouse, where you can find a variety of courses on different topics.
3) Find a new community
Either online or in-person, look for a community of people who are like-minded and have similar goals + interests.
For instance, do you have a passion for the environment? Join a watershed group or participate in a roadside or beach cleaning event in your community.
Have a passion for calligraphy + fountain pens? Check with your local bookstore or library for groups who get together to share those passions.
Want to get out in nature with others? Search for groups who get together regularly for hikes or trail walks.
Whatever your interest is, you can surely find a group to join who shares in your interest. And if you can't find a group, then why not start one?
The internet gives us endless possibilities + opportunities to grow, through many different forms of learning + connection with others around the world. We can all learn so much from each other! And making that connection is so vital + important to our mental health.
Start dreaming about what you want to learn more about and how you want to grow! Then put those ideas into action!
What are you interested in learning more about? Is there a group you'd like to connect with? Email me at [email protected] and share your thoughts! I'd love to hear from you!
