23 Lifestyle Ideas for a Healthier and Happier You

health live your life Jul 19, 2022

When you lay your head down at night, how do you feel about your day? Do you feel like you’re making progress towards the lifestyle you want to be living? Or do you feel you could have done a better job of living up to your potential?

Intuitively, you know it’s important to be healthy and to create space in your life to recharge. You want a lifestyle that speaks to your soul and supports you in your goals and dreams.

But, in reality, days come and go, you feel exhausted, overwhelmed and drained. And you know something needs to change.

Question is, where do you start? How can you even think of making any kind of lifestyle change when you barely get through your day?

Making changes to your lifestyle can do wonders for your health, mental health and your life in general. This can be very simple and might just be the way you look at something or the way you approach certain areas of your life.

Today I want to share some ideas of lifestyle changes you can incorporate in your everyday life in order to feel healthier and happier. Choose the ones that speak to you and incorporate them into your daily routine. You don't have to do all of these at once. Pick one or two you’d like to try out and see what happens. Add more over time and see how you feel.

I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and try something totally different!

Have fun with this. My aim here is to give you some tools to help you live a healthy and happy life.

  1. Give generously of yourself and your resources.
  2. View everything and everyone you meet with gratitude.
  3. Live each day happily without focusing on your problems.
  4. Hum or sing a happy song every day.
  5. Let out your sense of humor.
  6. Treat yourself to regular daily quiet time (study, pray, meditate) to recharge yourself.
  7. Include exercise as part of your daily life. Experiment with an exercise style that works for you. Try yoga, pilates, martial arts, walking, running, bicycling, rollerblading, swimming, dancing, weight lifting or competitive sports. The possibilities are endless!
  8. To increase your circulation, scrub your entire body with a hot, damp washcloth as part of your morning and/or your bedtime routines.
  9. Avoid wearing synthetic or woolen clothing directly on the skin. As much as possible, wear 100% cotton clothing, especially for undergarments.
  10. Avoid excessive jewelry on your fingers, wrists and neck; fewer rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and piercings allow your natural energy flow to circulate more freely.
  11. Avoid chemically perfumed cosmetics.
  12. In caring for your teeth, use natural toothpaste. And also experiment with a tongue cleaner.
  13. Keep your home in good order, including kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living rooms. Remember that your home is a reflection of who you are.
  14. If possible, include large green plants in every room of your home and office to freshen and enrich the oxygen content of the air. Typically, you should have 1 plant for every 1,000 square foot area of your home,
  15. Minimize television watching, or at least keep a good distance away from the television.
  16. Aim to turn off all electronics about an hour before bed.
  17. Avoid cooking with electricity, especially microwave ovens. Convert to gas when practical.
  18. Avoid water with chlorine and fluoride. Use spring water or a good-quality water filter.
  19. Plan your meals ahead of time, focusing on making them healthy with lots of vegetables.
  20. Chew your food well, 30 seconds per mouthful or more, until it becomes liquid.
  21. Offer thanks before and after meals.
  22. Do your best to be on good terms with people, especially your partner, parents, children, brothers, sisters, friends and co-workers. Communicate with them regularly, either in person or via telephone or email.
  23. Most of all, create a positive attitude and wonderful environment around you. Your space makes a world of difference to how you feel.

I hope these ideas create a sense of excitement and that you can see how easy it can be to incorporate things into your life that will help you in becoming healthier and happier.
